The menu I have been working on that can access parts of the WordPress and display it in the WordPress front end, I finally looked over the link structure and it will be simple to implement the links to work properly. All this will be built on the fly to some extent. beginning of the link is the same, but at the end WordPress accepts a variable to tell what and how to display it, I can generate the end with queries I wrote for the structure of the menu.

I worked with the database tables in WordPress in order to create a section on my main menu of my new portfolio for my blog generate from the database with PHP. It will have sub-menus like Archives, Categories, Links, and Pages. These are all generated from the WordPress database tables, so they will automatically update when I update my blog. This will add to the web site looking like it all belongs together. This was fairly simple once you understands how all the WordPress data fits together in the database. The hardest section was the archives, which use the monthname() and year() mySQL functions to make the archives be listed by month and year. I have yet to link it all together, I will working with that tomorrow. I may end up making a tutorial out of this as well in the future.

I have done some research on how to best put my portfolio together and currently I will create my website separate and have a template for my WordPress blog to make it seamless. There is no other content management system that has the power of blogging like WordPress and WordPress doesn’t have the site tools like I want in order to have a strong web portfolio online. I may integrate the blog log-in names into the site to add comments at some point but that may be further down the road. The site now is very out of date of what my abilities are. My focus is to make my portfolio reflect me and my abilities. I have learned so much through my internship.
